Palladium(II) chloride is also formed in the controlled reaction of palladium metal and chlorine. Depending upon the reaction conditions, one of two different forms of PdCl2 is formed. In a related reaction palladium(II) bromide, PdBr2, is formed in the reaction of palladium metal and bromine.
